This is the written reproduction of spoken material in the original language. The transcriptions may refer to the content of films, lectures, meetings, institutional videos and other material. This is the first step for a later process of dubbing or subtitling.
Subtitling
This is the insertion of written translations of spoken material on video.
Dubbing
This involves the replacement of the original voice by another, in a different language. The idea here is that the dubbed version must follow the movement of the lips; this is why it is called Dubbing with Lip Synchronization. The variety in which voices are inserted at a higher pitch, with the content of the translation being transmitted with the original audio as background, is called Locution in Off.
